Standard Mesh Screens
Keeping the mosquitoes away, especially those carrying dangerous viruses, is an important consideration for Florida residents. Window screens consist of mesh made with aluminum wire.
There are various screen mesh options for pool and patio. Standard window screen mesh will not corrode, rust or stain.
Let's talk about the mesh – since it’s the basis of the screening material. Let’s review basic definitions.
Mesh size is the density or openings per square inch. For example, a number 6 mesh will have 6 openings per square inch, and 20 means it has 20 openings per square inch.
The smallest sized mesh is 20-by-20.
The most common screen in the screen enclosure industry is 18/14 mesh. Why is it the common standard?
Under this standard, there are 18 openings by 14 openings per square inch. With that said, 18/14 screen allows good airflow and good outward visibility while providing insect protection for those Southwest Florida days and nights.
